My Therapeutic Style
I have experience working with suicidal ideation, breaks-ups, addiction, psychosis, and family violence. Past clients have struggled with depression, anxiety, homelessness, and lack of social resources. My experience working in hospitals has been educational and empowering. I have experience with helping veterans work through PTSD, as well as many LGBTQ+ patients in a hospital setting.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist patients/clients in understanding thoughts and behaviors, and how they are connected to each other. I educate patients about cognitive distortions and how to manage/break them utilizing reframing, acceptance, and compassion. I always bring in a patient’s strengths to help provide self-esteem.
I enjoy educating clients on their symptoms and helping them reframe thoughts to find solutions. I use humor, self-disclosure when necessary, and handouts/links for better understanding. I’ve been told how quickly and easily I’ve made them feel safe and comfortable to process things they wouldn’t normally. I would love to use my past experience to help you work towards a brighter future.
