My Therapeutic Style
I like to provide an easy to engage environment that is led by the client. Meeting a client where they are at allows me to acknowledge the goals the client has and for us to create a plan on moving forward.
I have had clients present with all types of challenges. When addressing long-term clients a challenge that I was present was dependency. At times, long-term clients may be resistant to reduce the frequency or stop sessions due to feeling that “they cannot do it alone.” I challenge this by reminding the clients that they are the ones doing the work and making the changes. My role is to help them learn skills and to provide support so they feel comfortable and confident in making the changes.
Many clients have gained insight into themselves, how to cope with their emotions, trauma and have built confidence in themselves. If you would like to do the same, please reach out.
