My Therapeutic Style
I am more of an eclectic therapy user where I listen first, then will utilize different techniques or therapy modalities to connect to the client’s specific needs. I often use CBT to help clients change their ways of thinking and behave. Some examples include using “to-do lists” to manage tasks throughout the day, engaging in relaxation techniques to aid in feeling of overwhelmed, stress, anxiety, and reframing their thought patterns.
Past clients have struggled with anxiety, depression, and grief. Some have been resistant or indifferent to therapy, or feeling like it was difficult to make time for it. By the end of our time together, they knew they could talk to me about anything and had more education about how therapy functions. They had learned relaxation techniques and had brought upon changes that improved their lives.
