My Philosophy and Approach to Therapy
With a heart for healing and a mind for growth, I am a dedicated counselor passionate about helping others find their path to wellness. I am a strong believer in that there is no “one theory to fix all” when it comes to therapy, life gives people a tailored experience and which brings different needs. What our sessions would look like is a blend of Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Reality therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Narrative therapy, and mindfulness.
Through empathetic listening, creative problem-solving, and evidence-based practices, I partner with clients to navigate life’s challenges, overcome obstacles, and foster inner growth. Although I am the professional in the therapeutic relationship, I’m extremely collaborative because you are the life expert of your life, I will always present myself as the guide to help make sense of the chaos life brings.
My Background
Growing up in a Hispanic household, mental health wasn’t something my father considered to be real so when I had my bouts of depression, he responded harshly towards me and in that moment I felt I did not have a voice. The moment I became a therapist, my mission statement is to ensure all of my clients feel heard, understood, supported. I went to Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas in fall 2019 in the pursuit of graduate school to obtain my masters in Counseling Psychology. I graduated in 2021. During graduate school years, I have led two psychoeducation groups: one on increasing mental health awareness and another on stress management. For my community, I have spoken at local events, podcasts, and local churches because I am passionate about bringing awareness to mental health. When I gained my LPC-A ( Licensed Professional Counselor Associate) license, my supervisor gave me these wise words “Every symptom has a purpose, it is our job to discover that purpose”.
A Few Fun Facts or Interests:
If you don’t see me at any local coffee shop drinking an iced latte (Iced caramel with oat milk is my go-to) while reading a book on counseling based practices (I have to keep my mind sharp) or listening to a podcast then you will see me going on mindfulness walks or jogging through the parks as I believe the body enjoys to be active. All of my life I have been surrounded by dogs so believe me when I say there is nothing better on this earth than being greeted by a four legged weenie dog (her name is Ruby). If you are lucky, she might make a special appearance.
