Tori Olds, a therapist at Deep Eddy Psychotherapy in Austin, TX, talks about intuition and tapping into that inner-knowing that lives within us all.
Our Gut-Based Knowing
There are lots of things that intuition could mean, but it’s almost always our gut-based knowing. It’s taking all those signals from our whole being, our whole body, really our whole brain. Intuition is just a nice word for it, but it’s similar to if you met someone and you had to know whether you love them. “Do I want to marry this person?” You can’t analyse that. You could look on paper and you could do an equation, but you can’t make a rational decision about that.
Does it Feel Right?
Intuition is more about, “Does this feel right?” It’s that inner knowing; we really have a lot of inner knowing, but it gets shut down. When we open that up then that’s what I mean when I say intuition—inner-knowing.
