Practice Philosophy

I provide a compassionate, safe, and non-judgmental environment to help you begin the path to healing and self-discovery. My approach to therapy values your unique needs and abilities. I’ll work with you to establish goals that are attainable. My style has been described as warm, authentic, thoughtful, and goal oriented. I am practical and results oriented, while remaining grounded in evidenced based practices of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Positive Psychology, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and dash of a Psychoanalytical approach.

I can help you reverse the negative spiral of stress, past memories, recent disappointments, that have led to feelings of mood issues, depression, anxiety and/or created relationship dysfunction in your life. My goal is to help you increase your understanding of yourself and your struggles, improve management of emotional pain, and help you lead a fulfilling and meaningful life.

I look forward to visiting with you and discussing the best psychological methods to help you achieve your emotional, spiritual, and physical goals. Guiding you and compassionately inviting you to step beyond your comfort zone as we walk through your journey in unburdening emotional obstacles, with tact, sensitivity, and uncompromising ethical support.

About Me

I am a psychotherapist with over 30 years of education, training, and experience in evidenced based direct behavioral health services for individuals, couples, and families.   I began my career with a BS in Psychology from Texas A&M University at College Station, TX.  I worked as an intensive case manager for individuals with severe mental illness—schizophrenia, schizoaffective, and/or severe Bi-Polar II.   I then attended The Graduate School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin, TX and have called Austin home ever since.   I spent the first half of my clinical social work career working for area not-for-profit organizations.  Providing psychotherapy to adolescents, individuals, and families in their home, and clinic settings for half of my career, and now in private practice these past several years.

I enjoy nurturing my creative side with art, my mediums of choice are pen and ink drawings, and pencil art/sketches.  I also enjoy building or refurbishing something out in the garage. I am an avid reader, and I generally read two or three different books at any given time depending on my mood or interest.

My family and I enjoy the many wonderful things Austin has to offer — from a great food truck cuisine to the latest festival or live music event.

I have called the Austin area home for over 25 years.
