Licensed Professional Counselor – Supervisor
Pronouns: she/her/hers
Hi!
My name is Nesi Lillard (she/her/hers) and I’m a Texas Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and a Registered Play Therapist with a PhD in Counselor Education. I have 10+ years of experience in trauma-informed care, play therapy, group counseling, and LGBTQIA+ affirmed care.
My Approach to Therapy
My counseling techniques are based in person-centered and feminist therapy because I believe identity, culture, values, and shared social systems are important in the counseling process and in overall mental health. You are the expert of your experiences, thoughts, and behaviors and we’ll work together to develop counseling goals, build insight, and strengthen coping skills. In this therapy work, I often use creative approaches like expressive arts, music, mindfulness/guided imagery, self-compassion exercises, and play.
About Me
I live in Southeast Texas with my family and our motley crew of rescue animals. I love being outdoors and wandering around trails in the nearby Sam Houston National Forest is my favorite type of self-care. I also like gardening, reading, musical theater, and all things geeky. I’m excited and hopeful for the chance to get to know you and build a meaningful therapeutic connection to support your healing and wellbeing!
