Licensed Professional Counselor – Associate

Hi There!

My name is Michelle, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate here at Deep Eddy Psychotherapy. The therapeutic journey and finding the right person to guide you through it can be intimidating. The relationship between client and counselor is an integral part of therapeutic growth and one built off trust and collaboration. To determine if we would be a good fit, learn a bit more about me below. I hope to provide you a safe space and support as I learn more about you and your world.

Approach to Therapy:

Life can be challenging and it is normal and human to need support. My role as a
therapist is to provide that support in a comforting and nonjudgmental space where you can be your most authentic self. My goals in session are to validate your emotions and experiences, empower you, and guide you towards healing. Healing looks different for everyone so to best meet the needs of my clients, my approach to therapy is eclectic. I primarily work from Emotion-Focused, Person-Centered, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, but will utilize other techniques to personalize our work. Together, we will explore you and your world with empathy, warmth, and curiosity. In this exploration, we will lean into emotional experiencing and build a mind-body connection as we uncover your personal values, unique needs, and relearn how to trust our bodies. We will also build a toolkit of skills to develop resilience and self-efficacy.

I believe that everyone has inherent worth and is capable of change, but I acknowledge that there are systemic and personal barriers to growth. I am passionate about diversity and inclusivity and I am committed to that in and out of therapy. I am your advocate and I hope to amplify your voice.

My Background

I have lived in a small town in Texas for 99% of my life after my family immigrated from Mexico. I grew up in a less traditional Hispanic household yet one that still denied mental health issues. I stumbled my way into the mental health field and realized that I wanted to be the person I needed when I was younger. So here I am!

In my free time, you will find me binging TV shows, reading cheesy young adult books, trying new restaurants, searching for the best cup of coffee in DFW, and booking my next concert. I have up to 15 merch shirts so far!
