Licensed Professional Counselor – Associate

Hi There!

My name is Michelle, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate here at Deep Eddy Psychotherapy. I’m so grateful you are here, taking a step toward honoring yourself and your needs. Finding a therapist who you connect with can be a daunting task, hopefully we can make that a bit easier. Feel free to learn more about me below to see if we would make a good fit!

Approach to Therapy

I believe that at the core of human experience is a desire for connection and acceptance. As a person-centered therapist, I strive to provide space for that authentic and vulnerable experience through curiosity and compassion. Along our journey in life, we may learn some “rules” such as what we “should” or “shouldn’t” do, what emotions we “can” and “can’t” feel, or that growth has to look a certain way. However, in our space, you get to choose what is right for YOU. Through experiential, cognitive, and
relational methods, we tap into your inherent resilience while building skills for emotional regulation, problem-solving, and creating healing connections. I hope to walk alongside you in your journey as a whole and complex human being and I can’t wait to get to know more about you!

My Background

As a bisexual Mexican immigrant, I hold a personal understanding of how cultural and systemic obstacles can impact our growth. I have struggled with powerlessness from unequal opportunities for success and my mental health issues being invalidated by my own community. This path into the mental health field has allowed me to be the person I needed when I was younger, a listening ear and an advocate. I believe that every part of our identity – gender, sexuality, culture, race, and roles – deserves to be understood and celebrated.

Outside of the therapy space, I am a huge homebody: reading, watching anime and k-dramas, or cuddling up to my dogs for max comfort. On the chance you find me outside, I am usually trying a new restaurant, grabbing a sweet treat, or going to yet another concert!
