“People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don’t find myself saying, “Soften the orange a bit on the right-hand corner”. I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.” — Carl Rogers
Hi!
My name is Lissa, and I am a Texas Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am honored to be part of the Deep Eddy Psychotherapy team and truly appreciate your consideration in choosing me as your therapist.
Finding a therapist that you can really connect with this is important, and can also feel rather challenging. I hope that this page will provide you with a better sense of who I am, and my practice philosophy. I would be honored to work with you and walk alongside you on your path to greater peace, understanding, fulfillment, and strength.
My Approach to Therapy
Therapy can be transformative, providing important and lasting change. My priority as a therapist will be to create a warm, collaborative, and accepting environment to help foster this growth and change. I believe it is important to meet you where you are at, providing a very personal and collaborative approach. My approach is client-centered and strengths-based, and I am passionate about providing a safe space to honor your story. Together we will explore your story to become more aware of your feelings, your patterns, your life transitions, your losses, and in making space for this, we get much closer to deeper fulfillment.
In giving you space to share your unique story, we can help identify and harness your strengths and explore solutions. I utilize the principles of empathy, compassion, collaboration, empowerment, and mindfulness. I can help you to explore and reframe your thoughts, and explore how thinking about things differently or doing things differently can help you to improve your overall outlook. I work with adults of all ages. Laughter, tears, reflection, problem-solving, and all emotions are welcome. Together we will discover your goals, and develop a path to meaningful change, and a more peaceful and enriched life.

Background
I hold a master’s degree from the Graduate College of Social Work at the University of Houston. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Texas, I have had the privilege of working for many years in both the mental health and non-profit arenas, and have experience in working with people from diverse ages, and difficulties. I have extensive experience working with people living with mental illness, as well as people living with neurodegenerative disease. Additionally, I recently worked for a bereavement center here in Houston. As a bereavement professional, I truly understand the importance of providing a safe space to those that are grieving, to honor their story, and know that grief is a unique and personal journey.
On a personal note, I live in Houston with my husband and a much-pampered calico cat. I love spending quality time with family and friends, traveling, trying out new restaurants, listening to live music, watching a favorite movie or Netflix show, or checking out the latest podcast. Connection with family and friends is what matters most to me.
