Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Pronouns: she/her/hers

Hello there!

I’m Jessica Schwen, a licensed clinical social worker at Deep Eddy Psychotherapy. My primary goal as a therapist is to cultivate an open, curious, and welcoming environment where we can engage in productive, fun, and insightful conversations as we navigate life’s many complexities.

How to know if we’re a good fit:

Are you drawn to the complex, unconventional heroes who challenge norms and break the fourth wall? Do you appreciate dark humor and a straightforward approach? If so, I might be the therapist for you.

I believe we all develop tools and skills to navigate life’s challenges. Sometimes, these tools no longer serve us effectively. We then face a choice: continue struggling with outdated methods or find new ways to thrive.

Just as heroes and anti-heroes evolve, we too can learn and master new skills. Building a strong foundation involves assessing our coping mechanisms and embracing our authentic selves. As a therapist it is my goal to work together with you to explore your interests – whether it’s discussing your favorite characters, sharing your passion for music, or anything else that resonates with you.

I value humor, honesty, vulnerability, and authenticity in my work with clients. My practice is grounded in professional integrity, relational ethics, respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion, and a commitment to continuous self-development.

 I specialize in:

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to help clients develop emotional regulation, interpersonal skills, mindfulness, and distress tolerance skills.
  • Supporting individuals experiencing life transitions, relationship loss, PTSD, anxiety, grief, religious trauma, and generational trauma.
  • Working with individuals who’ve felt different or isolated during their childhood or adolescence, those who may have been seen as “old souls,” too passionate, or misunderstood.

Fun facts about me outside of the therapy room.

When I’m not working, you can find me tending to my garden, hitting the trails with my horse Big Booty Judy, spending time with my dogs and watching Marvel movies. Logan is my all-time favorite movie. I’m also passionate about rock concerts, collecting tattoos, and sharing trivia about Star Wars.

I understand that beginning therapy can be both intimidating and scary. If anything I’ve shared has resonated with you, please feel free to take the first step by clicking on the link below.
