My BackgroundÂ
After growing up in a small town in North Louisiana, I pursued my education in Sociology at Louisiana State University Shreveport. I’ve always been passionate about helping children and their families navigate life’s challenges. Becoming a Social Worker was a natural path for me as I have always wanted to make a positive impact on people’s lives. I completed my Master’s in Social Work at the University of Texas in Austin. With a focus on clinical work with children and families, I have over 16 years of experience working with children and their parents as both a home parent educator, while working with Early Childhood Intervention and as an Inpatient Social Worker Group Therapist at Dell Children’s Hospital Grace Grego Maxwell Mental Health Unit. I work individually with children, teens, and their parents/caregivers. I utilize concepts and skills from several different counseling modalities; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.Â
A Few Fun Facts or Interests:Â
Outside the therapy room, you will likely find me planning my next trip to another country. I love to experience the food, traditions, and culture of lots of different locales. I enjoy reading fiction, historical fiction, and science fiction as well as streaming those types of shows on all of the different streaming services. Connecting on a personal level is essential, and I look forward to getting to know you better!
