Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Have you often found yourself minimizing or ignoring feelings like anxiety or sadness because they’re too difficult to deal with? Or telling yourself that you shouldn’t be feeling the way you are because you have good things in your life already? That people have things much worse than you so you should just be grateful for what you have? Do you find yourself checked out? Avoiding people, events, and conversations?
Feeling our emotions can be overwhelming and, without help, can lead us to get stuck in fight, flight, or freeze. To better understand your past and what has brought you here, we’ll reflect on the role stress has played in your life. You’ll be equipped with the necessary coping skills so you can be present and enjoy your life as it is now. I’ll empower you to explore a different path to reframe your understanding of change. Rather than being fearful of change, we can embrace it just as we embrace rainy days for the flowers in Spring.Â
My approach is rooted in empathy, evidence-based practices, and a genuine belief in each person’s innate resiliency. I believe we all want to connect and be understood so I take into consideration the intersections of your life, your identity, your history, and your perspective. I strive to create a space where you feel safe, advocated for, and represented. Through vulnerability, you’ll become more aware of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors allowing you to move closer towards a more joyous and fulfilling life.
Welcome, my name is Edwardo. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker & obtained my master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Baylor University and my bachelor’s in Social Work from New Mexico State University. My experience includes helping people with Complex PTSD, Anxiety, and Depression. I’ve been trained in Neuropsychological trauma through the lens of the Neuro-sequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) as well as TF-CBT, CBT, EMDR, experiential therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experience, and humanistic psychotherapy.
When I am not in a therapy session, I enjoy spending time with my pets and closed ones. Movies and games are a big part of our life and how we connect with one another. You’d be surprised at how much helpful content can reside in media! 🙂
Your first therapy session is a big step towards a future where you feel at peace.
Let’s begin–I’m here with you.
