Asia Bennet, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Hello There!Â
My name is Asia, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) here at Deep Eddy Psychotherapy. I graduated from University of Texas Arlington with my Bachelors of Social Work in 2015, and my Masters of Science in Social Work in 2016. I wanted to share a bit about myself and how I approach the work to help you decide if we might be a good fit.
My ApproachÂ
My approach includes building rapport and establishing trust before anything else. I am very solution focused and use a mixture of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy and others to help you create a plan to improve your life. I focus a lot on helping you to trust yourself because you are the expert on your life, I am only here to assist you in stepping into that knowledge and that power that you already hold. We will move at your pace, but I will push you out of your comfort zone for the betterment of your life. Three things that I promise is that you will feel safe, seen and supported.
My BackgroundÂ
I am a Dallas, TX native, but have lived in different states on both the east and west coast with Washington being my favorite place in the US. I came into social work after deciding that I did not want to go into the medical field. I wanted to be able to combine my love for health, with my compassion for people and decided that Social Work was a great mix of helping people become their whole and healthy self. I also really enjoy the administrative side of Social Work so that I can focus on the Macro and Micro aspects of Social Work. Therapy is special to me because we have all gone through dark times where we needed someone to help us see the light, and I strive to be the windshield wiper that allows that light to shine through for you. I also take it very seriously because many members of my family have been impacted by different mental health diagnoses, and I strive to make sure they see this as only a small part of them, not all of them.
While therapy is my life, traveling with my children completes me. You can also catch me volunteering at a school, church, or anywhere else I am needed. I love to bake, cook, host and plan parties, and anything else that allows those creative juices to flow. I am a FBI/ Police show junkie, and I also love reality tv (my guilty pleasure, and I am always looking for recommendations). My true love, Harry Potter; Yes I am a PotterHead and re-read the books and watch the movies over and over again. It is my favorite coping skill!
