My Background

I am a recent Texas transplant and I am so excited to start my journey in the Houston area!

I recently moved to the area from Southwest Missouri where I have spent the past 9 years working in the mental health field in some sort of capacity – starting as a caseworker and moving on up to a therapist role. I am very passionate about what I do and getting to walk alongside people on their journey is such an honor. I knew very early on in life that I wanted to be in a helping profession, but it wasn’t until my last semester of pursuing a degree in psychology where I came across social work. The social work ethics and code of conduct line up perfectly with my own personal beliefs and I have felt right at home in this career path.

I was born and raised in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. While I have been in the midwest for several years now, I feel that I still carry that stereotypical, laid back Pacific Northwest mindset with me as a clinician. I take a very eclectic approach to my practice and like to adapt to each person. Everybody is an individual, and cookie cutter approaches just don’t always fit the bill! I like to channel each person’s strengths to help guide them through troubling times. I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also utilize CBT, solution-focused, trauma informed care. Coming into therapy can be hard, and I want to make sure you are getting what you need in order to heal, process, and grow! Whether we are meeting in person or through telehealth, I strive to create an environment that allows you to be unapologetically yourself. I live by the moto: “Everything is figureoutable.”

A few fun facts about me: I am a mom to an amazing daughter. We have a lot of fun together going to concerts and exploring new places. I am an animal lover – if we are doing telehealth, it is likely you will hear one of my dogs alerting me that the wind is blowing, that their squeaker toy still squeaks, or one of my cats might make an appearance for their 5 minutes of fame. I am a bit of a beach bum and I am so excited to be living near a beach again! I am an avid fan of The Office and have watched it all the way through several times. I crochet. A lot. But not your typical crochet, I enjoy making dolls and different animals/critters.

If you feel like we might be a good fit, feel free to schedule a consultation and we can discuss this new journey together further.
