My Therapeutic Style

I have many years experience working in the child welfare system, with primary focus being on familial sexual abuse and familial sex trafficking. My private practice experience is primarily with couples, focusing on infidelity, sex, and/or communication. I have had many clients, individuals and couples, that identify as LGBTQ+. This work is very important to me, and I have been working with this community since the beginning of my career.

I have a tendency to put a solution focused spin most of the time. I find that keeping the client’s goal, their need and want, in the foreground tends to get efficient results. I integrate this into my sessions by reminding clients of this goal regularly and adapting it as needed. Additionally, I use narrative therapy to allow the client the space and time to speak through their own issues, giving perspective as needed.

I believe that the client is the expert in their own life, and my role is to guide them toward clarity and action. I use a client-centered approach, allowing them to lead the way as we focus on what’s most important to them. I don’t shy away from tough conversations, and I’ll be straightforward about things. Client’s time is valuable, and I aim to make every session count by being practical, whether in individual or couples counseling.
