My Background

I have an immense passion for helping individuals, children, couples, and families by assisting them in finding their inner strengths and natural capabilities that aid in creating positive change and fostering healthy relationships. Becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor was a natural path for me as I wanted to make a positive impact on people’s lives. I started my professional journey in a men’s sober living community, outpatient psychiatry clinic, a chemical dependence treatment center, inpatient treatment for dual diagnoses, and outpatient treatment for dual diagnosis before transitioning to private practice. I’ve lived in Houston, TX for the past 10 years, but I am originally from Springfield, Illinois, otherwise known as the “Land of Lincoln,” where President Abraham Lincoln began his political career. I’m actively involved in my local gym and church. One important aspect of my personal journey is that, I myself, participated in counseling as an adolescent and young adult. I believe in creating a safe and empathetic space for my clients to explore their
concerns.

A Few Fun Facts:

When I step out of the therapy room, you’ll discover my passion for fitness, nutrition, weight training, travel, hiking, and anything outdoors. I have a passion for both science and the arts. One of the pivotal lessons I learned in my early undergraduate studies that combined all of my values was that of a peripatetic performance. It was in one of my undergraduate English seminars, where in preparation for final performance, we performed a Shakespearan play in a peripatetic walk around the grounds. I believe this early experience informs my eclectic taste and hobbies. I always take advantage of opportunities to visit Houston’s diverse, local community theaters, or Houston’s MFA. Whether it’s diving into a new play, or creating new recipes, these creative pursuits not only bring me joy but also enrich my understanding of the world. Building a safe, positive environment that elicits growth, is at the core of my approach, and I’m excited about the chance to deepen our connection as we embark on this journey together.
