Licensed Professional Counselor – Supervisor
Pronouns:Â she/her/hers
Hello and Welcome!Â
My name is Stacy LaPointe (she/her), and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor here at Deep Eddy Psychotherapy. Congratulations on taking a courageous first step in choosing to begin therapy! I am deeply appreciative that the process of choosing the right therapist can be daunting and overwhelming as you embark on your journey. The therapeutic relationship is the strongest predictor of whether or not therapy is successful. Therefore, I wanted to share a bit about myself and how I approach the work to help you decide if we might be a good fit.
Practice Philosophy
When unresolved issues are writing our life story, we are not our own autobiographers; we are merely recorders of how the past continues, often without our awareness, to intrude upon our present experience and shape our future directions.
— Daniel J. Siegel, M.D., and Mary Hartzell, M.Ed., Parenting From The Inside Out
The influences of our personal, historical and cultural narratives continue to affect us in countless unconscious ways which can leave us entrenched in our pain, emotionally isolated and depletes our resources. I invite you to consider how your early life experiences, and past relationships may be influencing current relational patterns and life satisfaction. My approach to therapy is individualized and integrative utilizing primarily relationally focused, attachment informed and experiential therapies such as EMDR ( Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy) and Psychodrama. I bring my humor, curiosity, playful spirit, passion and deep respect for the work into the therapy room to create a collaborative, supportive and safe space to process an integrated awareness of the past and the present, to grieve past pain, identify recurring patterns and let go of long held negative core beliefs about yourself. A process in which you make sense of the events that shaped you and how they inform your present state of being, so you are free to create your own life story, not merely a recorder of how the past continues.

My BackgroundÂ
I have worked in public,non- profit and private mental health for over 25 years counseling diverse populations in a variety of settings. I have a BA in Psychology from Texas Woman’s University and an MA in Professional Counseling from Texas State University. My experiences have taught me to view clients holistically and that their challenges must be understood within the context of familial, cultural, and societal systems at large, and that an individual or community is never as strong as when they may speak for themselves. I have a deep appreciation in the effectiveness of interdisciplinary collaboration and the relevance of forming meaningful partnerships to build a coordinated network of resources, services and supports for clients. I am committed to practice as an anti-racist, gender and sexuality-affirming, feminist therapist, and welcome all individuals irrespective of their background.Â
In my spare time I love hanging out with my spouse, tween daughter, friends and our two fur babies (the latter you may see/hear during virtual sessions:) I enjoy gardening, attending musicals, nerding out with anything related to brain research, running, and taking voice lessons.Â
I look forward to working with you!
