My therapy style is highly relational, collaborative, and humanistic. Operating from a holistic lens, I consider each client as their own unique individual within the context of their environment. Central to my therapeutic style is my emphasis on the working relationship; I take the time to get to know each client outside of their “presenting problem” and have a natural inclination to see their inherent strengths. With my lived experience as an NCAA collegiate athlete, I can provide meaningful empathy and understanding to a student-athlete’s experience.
Some of the challenges my clients have presented include grief and loss (including death loss as well as complex and non-traditional forms of grief and loss), sports performance-based anxiety at the collegiate level, identity exploration, life transitions, eating disorders and body image, women’s issues, and depression.
Past clients have appreciated my non-pathological approach and how I focused on their strengths as opposed to their struggles. Specifically, my clients have told me they enjoyed how I was able to reframe their self-defeating beliefs into more beneficial beliefs and how they have carried that with them outside of the office.
A Few Fun Facts:
I grew up riding horses and hope to retire on a cottage with land and animals! I hope to get my yoga teacher certification by the end of the year and incorporate my learnings into my work as a clinician. I have also played volleyball for 16 years and now play recreationally with old college teammates and new friends.
