Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Pronouns: she/ her/ hers

Hello! My name is Maribel Montiel and I am a bilingual clinical social worker.  I am Latina, born and raised in Texas and a first generation college graduate.

Whether a big life experience, past trauma or changes in your current life have brought you here, I’m glad you’re here.  My main goal is to create a non-judgemental and safe space for you to be able to talk about your life experiences.  My approach to therapy includes acceptance, connection and humor.  I like to incorporate somatic experiencing, mindfulness, evidence based practices and psychoeducation into my work.  I see my role in your experience as more of a companion in healing rather than an expert telling you what to do.  Therapy is about collaboration–to help you understand, process and learn new ways to have healthier ways of being, with yourself, in relationships, in your environments, etc.

I have experience working with children, teens and adults.  My areas of focus include: Anxiety & Stress, Bicultural Experiences, Body/Self Image, Career-Related, Cultural Oppression, Depression, First-Timers in Therapy, Identity Issues, Imposter Syndrome, LGBTQIA+, Life Adjustments, Relationship Issues, School-Related, Self-Injury, Suicidal Ideation, Shame & Guilt and Trauma.
