A Passion for Therapy in Austin, TX

Deep Eddy Psychotherapy:

A Passion for Therapy in Austin, TX

Drs. Jev and Sydnor Sikes built 508 Deep Eddy and transferred their private psychology practices there in 1984. For the Sikes, it was the beginning of an era of study and growth in which they invested whole-heartedly in their training in individual and group psychotherapy and led study groups to pass on what they learned. They brought top psychologists from around the world to train and build the Austin psychological community.

A Family Practice

Visiting experts in the field became close friends and would stay at their home. Many long dinner discussions on psychological topics sparked an interest in the field in the Sikes’ two young daughters, Charlotte and Tori. In 2005, Dr. Charlotte Howard joined the practice, bringing her incredible capacity for compassion and nurturance to the practice. In 2008, Dr. Tori Olds and her husband, Dr. Glenn Olds, joined in with their shared passion for mindfulness, creativity, and deep internal exploration. The five were thrilled to build on the Sikes’ existing Austin psychology practice (30 years old at that point) to become a family group psychology practice–Deep Eddy Psychotherapy.

Expanding in Talent, Gifts, and Kindness

Jev, Sydnor, Charlotte, Tori, and Glenn, were all 5 highly invested in both training and community.  The vision of creating a highly-skilled group of therapists who could complement each other’s work and collaborate as a team quickly emerged.  We became excited to bring talented therapists into our practice, practitioners whom we felt could help meet our clients’ needs and whose gifts and kindness support the excellent psychological service and family feeling of Deep Eddy Psychotherapy.

Our office staff went from a solo-team of Lydia Hardwick, who had been with us for 18 years already at that point, to a robust team that lovingly walk clients through scheduling, billing and insurance, and other logistical needs.
